What are your qualifications?
I am a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with over ten years of experience caring for adults and older adults. I'm licensed as an ARNP and Hypnotherapist in Washington State. I completed a BA in Neuroscience from Oberlin College in 2008. After doing Neuroscience research for two years, I entered nursing school. I completed a BS in Nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2011, and went on to complete a MS in Nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2013. I'm certified in prescribing and managing hormone therapy through the Health by Heather Hirsch University and I'm a proud member of The Menopause Society. I completed Meta Hypnotherapy training through the Boulder Hypnotherapy Institute in March 2024, and have since focused on treating the symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and insomnia, through this modality. As a side note, I also completed a thru-hike of the entire Appalachian Trail in 2013. Although that might not sound like an obvious qualification, it belies a certain stick-to-itiveness that I have when it comes to overcoming obstacles.
Do you prescribe bio-identical hormones?
Yes, in Washington State. A lot of people don't realize that there are many FDA-approved options for bio-identical estradiol, as well as bio-identical progesterone, DHEA, and testosterone. When possible, I choose FDA-approved formulations because I know that they have undergone rigorous testing for quality, safety, and consistency. If you're interested, you can learn more about this topic within my blog posts. I do not offer pellet insertions.
Do you take insurance?
No. I'll be the first to admit that our healthcare system has major issues with access and equity. However, I've decided that I'd like to spend my limited time on earth caring for patients rather than negotiating with insurance companies. I hope that you can understand.
Do you accept HSA and FSA cards?
Yes. I can accept HSA/FSA payments through Stripe if you'd like to receive pre-tax care. At your request I can create a letter of medical necessity or Superbill to submit to your insurance or HSA/FSA to request reimbursement.
Do you assist with gender-affirming care?
Yes and no. Although there is limited information on gender-affirming menopausal care in gender-diverse, AFAB patients, I strive to understand this subset of patients as well as I can. However, I am not well-versed in initiating medical transitions. I'm also not as familiar with treatment for gender-diverse AMAB who may experience menopause-like symptoms due to the withdrawal of feminizing hormones. You would be best served by a seeing a specialist in gender-affirming care.
